The Operations Director will oversee daily operations of the synagogue, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, manage facilities usage and tenant relations, collaborate and coordinate with clergy, lay leaders, administrative and educational staff, and foster a warm and welcoming community.

This position report to the President of Board of the Trustees.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations (payroll, receivables, and bill payments – requires working knowledge of QuickBooks and ShulCloud)
  • Monitors and oversees bookkeeper to ensure accuracy of transactions and the production of financial reports for the Board of Trustees.

Personnel Responsibilities

  • Motivate and provide leadership, inspiring a culture of service, hospitality, and Jewish values.
  • Supervise full-time Membership Director and Marketing/Communications Director and collaborate with the clergy, and the educational team – early childhood center and religious school.

Facilities Management

  • Oversee the operational needs of the building, including custodial and security personnel.
  • Function as the liaison with tenants.

Perform other duties as assigned and requested by the Board of Trustees

Salary range: $100,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience, with benefits to be negotiated.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a similar position
  • Understand Jewish values, principles, and practices to represent the synagogue.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with clergy, staff, lay leaders, and community members.
  • A proven track record of effective problem-solving, multitasking, and success in organizational management.
  • Advanced technology skill set, including ability in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, ShulCloud, and website maintenance.
  • Experience with facilities management and building operations.
  • Background check will be required.
