Sunday School Teachers Needed Pre-K/K, 1st/2nd Grades, or Modern Hebrew Specialist, Fall 2025
TEACHING YOUNG CHILDREN
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and skilled teacher who can teach our combined Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten class or our 1st/2nd Grade class. Class size is normally 9 – 14 students with teen teaching assistants for each class. The curriculum includes Torah stories, Jewish holidays, modern Jewish values and Hebrew. Teachers also lead Tikkun Olam (repair the world) projects; this is an important part of the school’s mission. We have a theme each year and children work together to make a difference (from hunger and homelessness to eco-Judaism).
MODERN HEBREW PROFICIENCY TEACHER/SPECIALIST
We are looking for an advanced Modern Hebrew speaker who can excite and engage our children. This teacher would come to our school twice a month (occasionally 3 times) and integrate Modern Hebrew (ideally) with holiday learning, Jewish cooking, and Jewish crafts (creating ritual objects). The teacher would receive support from our volunteer coordinator on craft and cooking days. Our ideal candidate would already have HPA (Hebrew Proficiency Approach) training, however we could provide training in August to an experienced teacher.
We use the Hebrew Proficiency Approach taught at Middlebury College. The approach focuses on relevant, fun, and interactive methods of teaching Modern Hebrew.
