The Honeycomb Program and Education Director serves as the lead staff-person responsible for field-wide initiatives serving to grow and strengthen the field of Jewish youth philanthropy. This position works closely with other members of the Honeycomb team to create, implement, evaluate, and continually improve programs and educational resources. The position serves under supervision of the Honeycomb Executive Director.

Honeycomb is a project of the Jewish Funders Network (JFN), an international organization dedicated to advancing the quality and growth of Jewish philanthropy, and is based in New York City.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead new initiatives designed to increase the number of young people, organizations, and communities engaged in Jewish youth philanthropy, including applications, budgeting, reporting, and coaching senior professionals.
  • Provide ongoing programming support, cohort learning and professional development to the professionals and communities in Honeycomb Initiatives, such as the Foundation Board Incubator, iGive, Opening the Dor and LAunchpad.
  • Actively seek and coordinate partnership opportunities and joint projects with other appropriate organizations.
  • Create new, high quality resources, tools, and curriculum for the Jewish youth philanthropy field and for specific contracts as required.
  • Direct Honeycomb events and professional development, such as the Honeycomb biennial conference (The Honeycomb Summit), one-off training programs, and Honeycomb’s annual facilitator training including coordination of logistics, recruitment, program design, budgeting, and on-site conference administration.
  • Supervise programming designed to strengthen the field, facilitate networking, and provide support to program leaders, including: mentorship program, Communities of Practice, webinars, and working groups.
  • Supervise field wide evaluation initiatives and reports.
  • Recruit and supervise interns on as-need basis.
  • In partnership with the Executive Director, identify strategic opportunities for collaboration to expand Honeycomb’s reach.
  • Represent Honeycomb in the field at relevant events, conferences, and trainings, as an attendee or presenter.
  • Manage special projects as they arise.
  • Be an ambassador of Jewish youth philanthropy for the field.

KEY COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Relevant personal or professional experience implementing creative Jewish programming (experience in youth philanthropy, summer camp, and/or experiential youth education preferred), as well as a commitment to working with professionals to strengthen Jewish communities and using Jewish values.
  • Highly proficient in Jewish educational knowledge and ability to integrate rich Jewish content into programming.
  • Proven ability to manage a long-term strategic outlook as well as a short-term focus on executing program needs.
  • Demonstrated experience planning trainings and events.
  • Facilitation, teaching and coaching skills appropriate for both one-on-one mentoring and presenting to large groups.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing skills.
  • Experience designing and managing programs and/or initiatives including experience managing a program budget.
  • Strong organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of an entrepreneurial team and with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Willingness to travel once a month.
  • Commitment to professional growth and learning.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • This is a full-time position based in New York with occasional evening/weekend work.
  • Preference for New York-based candidates (in office Monday-Thursday, remote on Friday), but will consider candidates from other geographic areas.
  • The salary range for this position is $95k-$110K based on experience.

  • Early close on Fridays for Shabbat and closed for most Jewish holidays.
