Ramah Day Camp, Greater Boston is seeking an Aqauatics Director for Summer 2025!

Job Title: Rosh Swim / Aquatics Director 

Classification: Nonexempt (Seasonal)

Reports to: Camp Director 

Compensation: $6050

 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Oversee entire swimming program on a daily basis
  • During Staff Week work with swim staff on the following: 
    • pool safety
    • lesson planning
    • class organization
    • effective teaching techniques
    • review basic lifeguarding 
    • set up lifeguard rotation schedule
    • expected pool decorum
    • review how swim staff works with counselors
    • leveling campers
    • basic traffic flow on and off the pool deck for swim lessons and the occasional free swim 
  • Ongoing swim staff drills, training and practice rescues
  • Review each swim instructors lesson plans daily
  • Supervise swim instructors while they are teaching and provide feedback
  • Support swim instructors who may have campers with behavioral issues
  • Supervise and administrate the entire swim report process
  • Communicate with parents as needed regarding swimming concerns or questions (document all communication with parents in designated system)
  • Organize fun activities that campers can choose to participate in during free swim (ring toss, open water sports games, etc.)
  • Program creative swim activities periodically throughout the summer (Mayim Madness, Tzedakah Swim-a-thon)
  • Will check in with designated staff member responsible for all pool maintenance such as maintaining chemicals, cleaning pools and pool deck
  • Take inventory and order pool equipment and chemicals

 

Other Job Duties: 

  • Actively participate in camp events and Jewish life at camp, leading educational sessions and tefillah as comfortable and schedule permits 
  • Be a dugma and supportive presence for other members of the camp community 
  • Undertake other tasks as needed (such as driving, set up, or leading a group activity) as a senior member of camp 

 

Qualifications: (Minimum Education and Experience) 

  • Must be 21 years of age or College Graduate 
  • Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR, Lifeguard certification, and WSI (Water Safety Instruction) certification 
  • Must submit health history record and examination form prior to first day of work. 
  • Ability to interact with all age levels. 
  • Must be able to pass a background check as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Understand the development needs of youth. 
  • Staff Supervision 
  • Discretion with regard to confidential matters 
  • Experience at Jewish Camp and/or Jewish Educational Setting 
  • Desire and Ability to work with Children in a Camp Setting 
  • Demonstrated maturity, responsibility and creativity. 

 

Physical Aspects of the Job: Ability to work long hours, including standing and/or sitting. Ability to work independently to complete tasks including during non-traditional hours.
