Summary of Job Description:

The MJCC seeks a dynamic and experienced Jewish educator to lead and implement programming from the Center for Jewish Life and Learning. This professional will be responsible for leading the JCC’s efforts to engage the Jewish community in Jewish experiences through programming. These experiences should be specific to the CJLL as well as in conjunction with the other departments of the MJCC to infuse Judaism into all programming aspects of the organization. The CJLL will also work closely with our community Shaliach to strengthen and increase our community’s ties to the State of Israel.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Create and foster a palpable Jewish sense within our building
  • Collaborate with and be an ongoing program resource to all JCC departments and staff for area ambiance and programming opportunities
  • Engage with our Jewish community by planning, developing, and overseeing Jewish enrichment programs, holiday programs and educational opportunities
  • Plan, develop, and oversee Jewish educational opportunities for staff
  • Develop and implement CIT
  • Maintain a high standard of programming, while identifying, developing and implementing new initiatives and program opportunities for members and our community
  • Work closely with our ECC Judaic specialist to have a regular role in weekly Oneg Shabbat and other holiday programs for Early Childhood Center

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer departmental budget
  • Staff Jewish Life and Learning lay committee

Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the MJCC management team and attend weekly staff meetings
  • Prepare a Jewish enrichment moment for board meetings
  • Prepare a Jewish enrichment moment for weekly management staff meetings
  • Where appropriate develop partnerships with other agencies from the Jewish community as well as the greater Memphis community
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Jewish Education or Rabbinic Ordination preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in Jewish Education field
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and demonstrate excellent management skills
