Part-Time HEBREW TEACHER Faculty Positions (IN-PERSON ONLY) 

Temple Ner Tamid, Bloomfield, NJ

Who We Are:

Temple Ner Tamid is a welcoming, diverse, and musical Reform congregation of 540+ households. With a full-time staff of 12, Temple Ner Tamid supports a range of engaging community activities, Jewish holiday celebrations and lifecycle events, supplemental religious education for K-12th grade, and an active preschool.

Our staff and leadership are always looking for new ways to provide innovative engagement to our community. With excellence at the forefront of all we do, we strive to meet our mission of inspiring our members to be more curious, connected, and just.

 

We are especially looking for Hebrew teachers on Wednesdays 4:00pm-6:00pm in person for 2-45 minute small group Hebrew sessions and Tefila.  THIS IS IN PERSON ONLY.  

Our starting salary is $70/hour.  

General responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with school administration and other faculty members to create innovative and meaningful Jewish learning experiences, both in and out of the classroom. 
  • Prepare creative, interactive lessons as part of a well-structured curriculum. 
  • Regularly communicate with families outside of school hours. 
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of special programs, including family education and holiday celebrations. 
  • Attend professional development staff meetings for faculty after school hours on Sundays or Wednesdays. 

As a member of our faculty, you will: 

  • Provide a sense of caring and concern that enables our students to support one another and challenge themselves to grow as individuals. 
  • Inspire students and their families to actively engage in Jewish life. 
  • Model the thoughtfulness and creativity that we seek to promote in our community. 
  • Receive mentoring to grow as an educator as part of a staff of reflective practitioners. 

Ideal candidates have the following qualifications: 

  • Experience teaching students in grades 3-6 in a formal or informal setting. 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to teach Hebrew prayer incorporating arts, drama, movement, or media. 
  • Comfort teaching in a Reform Jewish congregation to a diverse student body. 
  • Those with summer camp or youth group backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
