The Controller with Knollwood Cemetery Corp. (Knollwood) DBS Sharon and Knollwood Memorial Parks plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and stability of our organization.  The Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.  E-mail résumé to [email protected].

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and execute financial planning/forecasting, budgeting, and cash management strategies to support organizational goals.
  • Design and enforce internal control systems to protect the company’s assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue enhancement.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate monthly financial reports to provide insight into the company’s financial status.
  • Oversee the reconciliation process for all balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate regularly with external accounting firms and prepare necessary information for annual reports and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and standards.
  • Review and monitor the management of cemetery trust funds by the outside Trust Company to ensure proper handling.
  • Perform other financial tasks as required to support the organization's objectives.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required plus at least 5 years’ experience
  • Experience with a variety of accounting software is essential
  • Experience with conversion of accounting software preferred

  • Proficient computer skills- specifically Microsoft Office Suite Products
  • Exceptionally well organized and detail-oriented
  • Able to meet regular deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Accountability – accepts responsibility for starting, controlling, and concluding job tasks and assignment

Physical Requirements: 

  • This position typically is sedentary
  • Must be able to ambulate around office and have manual dexterity
  • Must be able to use a computer throughout the workday
  • Must be able to bend and stretch
  • Must be able to lift small boxes (<20#)

Work Environment: 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet
