Our client www.chailifeline.org is a leading worldwide Jewish health support organization providing programs that address the emotional, social, and financial needs of seriously ill children, their families, and communities.

The Senior Development Officer will implement fundraising programs to successfully meet annual, program and campaign goals. Working in Development on Long Island, including the Five-Towns Jewish communities, S/He should possess an understanding of development concepts; Must be ambitious, motivated and willing to travel. Candidate must have a keen understanding of Jewish community services.

This position reports to the CEO.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing development tasks that include major gifts, annual events, data management, and special campaigns; Experience in managing volunteers, and an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. This is a hands-on position which requires some evening and Sunday work.

The right candidate will have a track record as a development professional in a non-profit organization, and will have a strong commitment to the organization’s core mission.  He/she will be innovative and creative, a hands-on professional focused on results, and skilled in working with multiple constituencies to solicit current donors and identify new major gift donors.  He/she will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  He/she will have demonstrated success in planning and executing a wide-ranging fundraising program and will monitor and track procedures and processes to determine methodologies that are successful.  Strong leadership ability and collaborative style is required to interact effectively with all stakeholders. Enthusiasm, high energy and entrepreneurial spirit are requisites for success.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate, build and solidify relationships with new and established contributors.
  • Plan, develop and implement an aggressive, creative fundraising program to solicit and acquire funds for the organization including annual, planned, and major gift programs and specialized promotional or capital campaigns.
  • Analyze historic patterns of giving and develop strategies to encourage new gifts and identify new sources of revenue, as well as increase current contributions.
  • Plan and execute high-impact fundraising events
  • Collaborate with the national team on major initiatives, including the Annual Gala and peer-to-peer campaigns
  • Develop compelling funding proposals and impact reports for donors and foundations
  • Utilize Salesforce to track donor interactions, maintain accurate records, and analyze fundraising metrics
  • Facilitate efforts to increase funding and all other forms of institutional support from Corporate community partnerships and public and private Foundations.

 

Professional Qualifications

  • This position requires a dynamic, take-charge, successful professional with a minimum of 10+ years of major gift fundraising experience, preferably in a volunteer-driven organization. Experience in the Five-Town Jewish Communities, a plus.
  • Proven track record in direct solicitation of donors and prospects, as well as Corporate and Family Foundations.
  • Experience in building and leading all aspects of Development.
  • Proven track record in the execution of fundraising strategic plans, setting and meeting goals and management of comprehensive fundraising programs.
  • Candidate should have fundraising, special events, networking and PR experience.
  • The ideal candidate must possess a deep familiarity with and passion for Jewish philanthropy. Understanding of issues important to the Jewish Community and experience working with Jewish communal leadership, a plus.
  • Familiarity with Planned Giving, a plus
