POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary goal of the Greater Pittsburgh PJ Library Coordinator is to work within the PJ Library engagement framework to create an inclusive, welcoming environment where Jewish families can deepen their connection to Judaism and the Jewish community.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as primary spokesperson and concierge for families interested in enrolling in PJ Library, a program of the JCC that is run in partnership with the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.
  • Maintains data tracking system to measure outcomes in the following areas: Enrollments (in collaboration with Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh administrative support); Engagement – initial and repeat; Programming – number of programs, locations and attendance.
  • Maintains relationship with partners/funders (Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and Harold Grinspoon Foundation) through ongoing communication, participation in joint committees and timely completion of grant reports.
  • Utilizes professional resources provided by HGF including monthly check-ins with Engagement Officer and participation in Communities of Practice, networking sessions and professional development opportunities.
  • Plans and executes regular community-wide programming using Jewish holidays and values as programmatic themes.
  • Oversees Ambassador program which includes managing staff, conducting monthly training and logistics meetings and monitoring programming outcomes.
  • Supports the work of Jewish institutions in the Greater Pittsburgh area through collaborative programming, professional development and provision of PJ Library books and enrollment information.
  • Connects with new parents and families new to Pittsburgh and those who are seeking to expand their Jewish network of people and/or institutions.
  • In collaboration with the Marketing team at Federation, oversees monthly production of PJ Library Pittsburgh newsletter.
  • Serves as an active resource for JCC Early Childhood staff in the use of PJ Library materials, behind the scenes and with children.
  • Works effectively with other key JCC departments to provide effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Ability to define problems, develop solutions, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to manage and balance a variety of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment under tight time constraints.
  • Ensures adherence to and integration of the agency core values (shared lenses) Masa (reflection, return & renewal), B’Tzelem Elohim (dignity and potential), B’rit (belonging & commitment), Hit’orerut (amazement & gratitude), D’rash (inquiry, dialogue & transmission), K’dushah (intentionality & presence) and Tikkun Olam (responsibility).
  • Recognizes that the JCC of Greater Pittsburgh gathers individuals representing diverse backgrounds, beliefs and practices.
  • Creates a warm and welcoming environment within the agency.
  • Maintains a high degree of organization and attention to details.
  • Adheres to the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh policies and procedures.
  • Actively supports and participates in continuous intra-departmental and agency-wide quality improvement processes. “Everyone, Every Day, Closer to Better.”
  • Actively promote and maintain agency customer service standards.
  • Ensures compliance with all state, federal and local regulating agencies.
  • Generates necessary reports and documentation as needed and/or required.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate personal computers (software and hardware).
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Ability to travel, as needed.
  • Ability to perform other related duties, as needed and/or required.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

PJ Library Ambassadors and other sub-contractors

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field with at least two years’ experience.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Frequently the employee is required to sit. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to obtain ACT 33/34 and FBI clearances and mandated reporter training.
