Job Title: Executive Director

Location: Portland, OR

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt

Reports to: Board of Directors

About Us: The Robison Foundation for Jewish Elders is a non-profit organization dedicated enhancing the well-being of elders in the Jewish community of Greater Portland.  The Foundation seeks to partner with local organizations by funding programs and initiatives that advance its mission.  The Foundation is funded through an endowment, real estate holdings, and donations.

Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing grant administration and management, building and maintaining relationships with the Jewish community, ensuring financial oversight, and managing donor relations. The Executive Director will serve as the public face of the Foundation and must be comfortable with public speaking and engaging with donors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and management of grant programs.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of grant programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Jewish community and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the Foundation at community events and meetings.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote the Foundation's mission and programs.
  • Ensure the financial health and sustainability of the Foundation.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget.
  • Oversee financial reporting and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors and potential donors.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the Foundation's programs.

Required Experience, Knowledge, and Capabilities:

  • Proven leadership experience in a non-profit or similar organization.
  • Strong understanding of grant administration and management.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in financial management and oversight.
  • Ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
  • Highly empathetic leader who is knowledgeable about issues facing older adults.
  • Entrepreneurial leader who can help in shaping the organization’s direction in collaboration with our eight-member board of directors.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Desirable Experience and Capabilities:

  • Experience working with Jewish communities and understanding of their needs.
  • Knowledge of the Portland metro area and its Jewish community.
  • Passion for supporting elders and improving their quality of life.
  • Experience in start-up or early-stage non-profit.

 

Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $100,000-125,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Paid time off and Holidays are as follows: up to Twenty (20) vacation days and Five (5) sick days annually, Nine (9) Federal Holidays, and certain Jewish holidays, which vary year to year.
  • Benefits available include: Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life insurance coverage, 401(k).
