Congregation Beth Shalom, a well-established vibrant and inclusive Conservative synagogue in Atlanta (Dunwoody) is seeking a dynamic Director of Education for our Religious School.

Position Summary:
The Education Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Religious School, ensuring the implementation of high-quality Jewish education for students in a Conservative Jewish setting. The director will work closely with the Rabbi, education staff and leadership to maintain and further develop a program that aligns with the synagogue's mission, vision, and values. The director will be responsible for the curriculum, teacher recruitment and support, student engagement, and fostering a positive educational environment for students, families, and educators alike.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Jewish Education, Jewish Studies, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Jewish education, with a strong understanding of Conservative Judaism.
  • Proven leadership and strong organizational skills, with experience managing educational programs and staff.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage with students, families, and synagogue leadership.
  • Ability to create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for students, families, and staff.
  • Familiarity with current trends in Jewish education, including the integration of technology and innovative teaching practices.
  • Knowledge of Hebrew language and prayer is a plus, preferred but not required.

  • Passion for Jewish education and commitment to the values of Conservative Judaism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, faculty, and community members.
  • A creative and thoughtful approach to problem-solving and program development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with synagogue leadership, clergy, and staff.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time with the option for full time
  • Flexible hours, with evening and weekend work required for school programs and events.
  • Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 – commensurate with experience and hours worked
  • Preferred Experience: 3-5 years
