Position Overview
The Judaic Studies Teacher at Community Day School collaborates with our Head of School, Rabbi, and the religion and foreign language instructional team to develop and deliver curriculum, tailor instruction to meet individual learning needs, and engage in proactive communication with parents. Our aim is to foster a classroom atmosphere that is both nurturing and supportive, while also implementing strategies for positive behavior and classroom management. Administrative support is provided for guidance and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in the classroom by addressing their diverse academic needs, ensuring all students can engage with the Judaic Studies curriculum.
- Promote a joyful connection to Judaism and a deep appreciation for Israel among students, parents, and staff, regardless of their religious background.
- Develop, prepare, and execute lesson plans in alignment with the curriculum.
- Utilize assessment outcomes to guide instructional strategies.
- Work with other faculty and administrative staff to plan and achieve instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Design lessons that accommodate the diverse needs of individual students.
- Serve as a positive role model for students, embodying the school's mission.
- Actively participate in Professional Development opportunities.
- Establish a classroom setting that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline in accordance with the school's philosophy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience teaching Judaic studies in a school, temple, or camp setting.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills.
- The ability to remain diplomatic and tactful under pressure.
- Empathy for the diverse needs and dynamics of the school community.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and responsibility.
- Proficiency in educational technology or a willingness to learn.
- A reflective practitioner with a commitment to personal and professional growth.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in elementary or middle school education.
- Experience as an ambassador for Judaism in a pluralistic environment.
