Executive Summary:

This position disrupts antisemitism on campus by empowering students and fostering critical relationships with university staff and faculty.  The Director of Campus Affairs will work across Minnesota’s university and college campuses with a particular focus on the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.  

This position will coordinate education, advocacy, and relationship building initiatives on campus, serving as a liaison between JCRC, Jewish student groups (e.g. Hillel, Chabad, Jewish Greek Life) and community partners such as the Minneapolis and St. Paul Jewish Federations. 

The Director of Campus Affairs will build and sustain long-term relationships, as well as develop and implement political and media strategies to shift the climate on campus.  

The ideal candidate will deeply understand today’s campus climate and have a passion for engaging student and campus communities in shaping and advancing effective advocacy. They will leverage their relationship-building expertise to work across multiple campuses and the local Jewish community to ensure the students they serve, both undergraduate and graduate, feel supported, connected to resources, and able to promote positive Jewish life even amidst the most complex antisemitic incidents on campus today. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Amplify relationships between the JCRC and Jewish student organizations, including Hillel, Chabad, Jewish Greek Life, university/college administrators, faculty, staff, and other relevant stakeholders such as student affairs professionals and interfaith partners across Minnesota’s campuses. 
  • Work with Jewish and non-Jewish student leaders on campus to address the campus climate and ensure inclusion of all students. 
  • Train and support civicminded students on getting involved in student leadership with student government and/or key campus organizations. 
  • Develop and implement student initiatives to disrupt antisemitism through education and relational organizing. 
  • Connect with students who are interested in advocacy and empower them as leaders, plan advocacy events in support of Jewish students on campus. 
  • Develop civic engagement and leadership programs for Jewish students. 
  • With JCRC colleagues, partner with local and national Jewish organizations to bring speakers, workshops, and events to campus. 
  • Collaborate with JCRC colleagues and our partners to educate about Jewish identity, antisemitism, and Middle East issues on campus for both Jewish and non-Jewish participants. 
  • Regularly monitor, track, and report on antisemitism both on social media and throughout campus. 
  • Manage incident reporting/tracking/outcomes and developing longer-term strategies. This may include taking a role in leading advocacy work or helping facilitate legal and/or PR resources.  
  • Convene faculty, staff, and students around issues of antisemitism and anti-Zionism who can make recommendations to administration and build support networks. 
  • Support appropriate community involvement on campus that is relevant and beneficial to the lived experience of Jewish studentsfaculty, and staff through building meaningful relationships with other community groups and individuals with shared values. 
  • Write/edit op-eds, letters, newsletters, action alerts, press releases, social media, and statements related to campus culture initiatives on behalf of JCRC. 
  • Establish a steering committee with key stakeholders to guide work. 
  • Seek and submit grants to advance the goals of this position. 
  • As needed, participate and contribute to other JCRC education and advocacy work. 

What You’ll Bring to the Position

  • We anticipate the successful candidate will have 5+ years of professional experience in college campus work, Jewish community, or community relations. 
  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Knowledge of Jewish history and culture, the characteristics of antisemitism, and the broad range of understandings of Zionism and anti-Zionism. 
  • Passion for fighting antisemitism, addressing anti-Zionism, and uplifting American values of democracy and pluralism. 
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize diplomacy and work in collaboration toward solutions. 
  • Aptitude for thinking critically and creatively, embracing data, and developing solutions to problems. 
  • An organized and detail-oriented approach to work. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven record of building productive working relationships. 
  • Experience in community organizing, student engagement, or campus/government relations. 
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects of varying urgency and timelines simultaneously, as well as shift priorities toward emerging needs. 
  • Capacity to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. 
  • Social media prowess. 
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office and Google Suite. 
  • Commitment to the multiple missions of the JCRC. 
  • Experienced with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud (or similar structured data platform) preferred but not required. 

What You’ll Receive:

  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $75,000 – $85,000 based on experience

Additional Information:

Reports to: JCRC Deputy Executive Director

Start date: Immediate 

This position will primarily office remotely out of Minnesota Hillel (1521 University Ave. SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414and other campus spaces when classes are in session.  

The JCRC office is located at the Barry Family Campus at 4330 Cedar Lake Road S., St. Louis Park, MN 55416. This is an in-person position.
