Temple Ohabei Shalom is seeking a passionate and organized Afterschool and Enrichment Programs Director to lead our HomeBASE (secular) and ShalomBASE (Jewish) afterschool programs. This full-time role is an exciting opportunity to shape a thriving, community-centered program, supporting students, families, and staff while overseeing curriculum, licensing, staffing, enrollment, and daily operations.
This is a full-time position with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities. The position includes a combination of classroom, administrative, and event-based work.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Development
- Build relationships with students, families, and staff to foster a strong community.
- Develop and implement engaging, community-centered afterschool programming.
- Ensure compliance with MA Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC) licensing.
- Oversee enrollment, scheduling, curriculum, and program policies for two afterschool programs (HomeBASE and ShalomBASE).
Team Management & Operations
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise afterschool staff.
- Implement and oversee safety policies and emergency procedures.
- Manage program budgets, payroll, and supplies.
Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as the primary contact for families, providing excellent communication and support.
- Organize parent engagement events and program tours.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a warm, personable, resourceful, organized, and dependable person with a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and families.
- Experience in education, childcare, summer camp and/or afterschool or preschool program administration. MA DEEC Director 2 certification is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred
- Strong leadership, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial spirit – detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple projects and tasks at one time; comfortable taking initiative
- Able to work in a dynamic environment with changing demands and expectations, and open to new things and to working outside of the job description
- Proficient in all basic software platforms Microsoft (Word, Excel) and Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, Forms) communication platforms (outlook, zoom…)
- Strong understanding of human development – for children and staff
- Familiarity with Jewish traditions and values (preferred, but not required).
What to expect from the job:
- School year Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm; summer flexible
- Salary commensurate with experience: $65,000 – $75,000 annually
