Who We Are

Temple Am Echad is a diverse, multi-generational community from different backgrounds and legacies. We provide educational and worship opportunities within the context of Reform Judaism and believe that music should be an integral component of our regular and enriched services. 

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Cantor/Cantorial Soloist to enrich our Temple’s musical and spiritual life. This individual will work closely with the Rabbi to provide musical leadership for Shabbat, High Holy Days, holiday observances, and religious school programming. Additional responsibilities include leading worship for young children, enriching classroom experiences with music, and tutoring B’nai Mitzvah students.

  • Ability to balance traditional music as well as infusing new music in our services
  • Promotes congregational participation during services
  • Encourages children to stay active in Temple life post B’nai Mitzvah

We are seeking a Cantor or Cantorial Soloist who is open to filling all or part of the below job description (salary may vary)

Cantor/Cantorial Soloist

Worship

  • Collaborate with the Rabbi for weekly Friday night Shabbat services (with an accompanist on staff) and participate in special musical Shabbat programs throughout the year.
  • Coordinate music for High Holy Days and other holiday services with the Rabbi.
  • Serve as the songleader for the monthly Tot Shabbat service.
  • Lead music for occasional Saturday morning B’nai Mitzvah services (approximately 8-10 for the upcoming year)

Religious School

  • Co-lead a 30-minute worship service with the Rabbi for children and parents.
  • Provide music enrichment for religious school classes.

B’nai Mitzvah Tutoring

  • Tutor students to prepare for their B’nai Mitzvah.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Binder/Avery Torah trope.
  • Maintain strong organizational and communication skills.

Compensation

Part-time, 20 hours per week, to begin July 1
Package/Salary Range: $40,000-$50,000
The candidate will be able to structure the package as they desire.
