Herzl Camp, a premier Zionist Jewish summer camp in the Midwest, is seeking a Jewish Life & Learning Coordinator to lead the Jewish educational experience at camp. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic Jewish educator to develop a comprehensive, meaningful approach to educate, honor, and celebrate Judaism and Israel.

Core Responsibilities

Jewish & Israel Education Vision

• Grounded in Herzl’s mission and values - foster a strong sense of community, Jewish identity, and connection to Israel by developing a comprehensive, fun and engaging approach to Jewish education. 
• Develop curriculum and programming that resonates with campers and staff across a wide range of ages and varying levels of Jewish knowledge and connection,and ending their summer with a stronger Jewish identity and a deeper connection to Israel. 

Content & Programming

• Evaluate existing programs and themes, and make changes that reflect the desired culture. 
• Create and facilitate developmentally appropriate objectives and outcomes for campers - define what it looks like in action. 
• Guide and mentor the Chinuch (Education) Team to design and implement engaging and interactive programming.
• Educate and model opportunities for staff to naturally incorporate Jewish learning and values into everyday camp life.
• Lead and execute Yom Yisrael programming that immerses campers and staff in Israeli history and culture. 
• Engage Israeli staff to utilize their skills, experiences, and first-hand knowledge to plan and lead informative and fun Israel programming.

Shabbat Experience

• Enhance the Shabbat experience - from ambiance to programming to connection. 
• Oversee Shabbat and holiday (Tisha B’av) services and programming
• Encourage and guide campers and staff to take leadership roles in the Shabbat services, rituals, and programming. 

Strengthen Community Engagement

• Cultivate relationships with clergy and Jewish educators to enhance programming by inviting guests 
• Partner with Jewish organizations that align with Herzl’s mission to provide additional perspectives and enhance education opportunities. 

Position Details

Location: This is a seasonal leadership role based at Herzl Camp in Webster, WI, during the summer. Pre-camp planning and post-summer debriefs may be remote or on-site as needed.

2025 Dates: Summer training begins June 6. Summer camp runs June 17-August 18. Compensation available for pre-camp work.
