Position: Director of Programs and Community Engagement (full or part-time)

The Director of Programs and Community Engagement is responsible for strategically and creatively overseeing all aspects of Chabad of Tribeca/Soho’s programs and community engagement efforts in downtown Manhattan. This key role is pivotal in promoting connection, Jewish learning, and growth in the vibrant neighborhoods of Tribeca and Soho.

 The Program Director will report to and work in close collaboration with Chabad’s Co-Executive Directors.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  1. Program Development and Management:
  • Identify the specific needs and interests of the downtown Jewish community and design programs and initiatives that address them.
  • Create a diverse range of programs tailored to different age groups and life stages within the community —working to foster a sense of belonging and identity.
  • Develop an annual program calendar encompassing cultural, religious, educational, and social events.
  • Collaborate with Chabad’s staff and volunteers to ensure the successful execution of programs.
  1. Event Logistics
  • Act as the primary point person for all programs and events.
  • Manage program logistics, staffing, budgets, and resources efficiently.
  • Coordinate with operations and facilities staff to oversee program logistics, including setup, clean up, supplies, technology, and security needs.
  • Attend programs and events as determined.
  • Oversee and manage relationships with program vendors.
  1. Community Outreach and Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong, meaningful relationships with community members, partner organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to attract and retain program participants and supporters.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels to keep the community informed about upcoming events and activities.
  • Create an atmosphere of belonging and inclusion for diverse segments of the community.
  1. Reporting and Evaluation:
  • Track and measure the impact and success of programs and events, ensuring they meet the community’s needs and expectations.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Executive Directors and senior staff to assess program effectiveness and make informed decisions for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
    Previous experience in program management, community outreach, or a related field, with track record of creating and implementing programs that cater to the unique needs and interests of community members across different age groups and life stages.
  • A deep understanding of Jewish culture, traditions, and values.
  • Knowledge of the local community in downtown Manhattan and the ability to develop and execute creative and culturally relevant programs that align with the sensibility of the Tribeca and Soho communities.
  • Excellent time management skills, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong computer skills to manage program logistics efficiently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for building strong relationships and community engagement.
