DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

Sharsheret, a fast-paced and growing national breast and ovarian cancer organization, seeks a proactive, detail-oriented full-time Development Associate in our Teaneck, NJ office with a passion for nonprofit healthcare and education and a focus on building institutional corporate relationships. The successful candidate should thrive in a collaborative environment, have a strategic mindset and the ability to manage relationship-building and program execution. An understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the Jewish and/or health care landscape is a plus. This position is hybrid with 2 days a week in the NJ office. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Corporate Partnership Development:
  • Support management of portfolio of 50+ pharmaceutical/laboratory companies.
  • Identify and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical representatives and fundraising opportunities.
  • Coordinate meetings with pharmaceutical companies.
  • Research potential pharmaceutical company partners.
  • Draft tailored proposals and funding requests.
  • Suggest and align program ideas with organizational goals and pharma interests.
  1. Grant Management:
  • Cultivate, solicit and steward gifts through pharma rep meetings and grant and proposal writing.
  • Oversee the implementation of approved grant-funded programs.
  • Ensure compliance with grant deliverables to maintain accurate reporting
  • Act as a liaison between the organization and pharmaceutical partners.
  1. Program Execution and Reporting:
  • Coordinate and assist the implementation of approved grant-funded programs and ensure compliance with grant deliverables to maintain accurate reporting.
  • Ensure branding and recognition requirements for pharmaceutical partners are met.
    Collaborate internally between Sharsheret’s clinical and outreach teams to ensure organizational commitments are met and program execution.
  • Prepare detailed reports on program outcomes and impact for funders.
  • Contribute to team meetings, strategy sessions, and project planning.
  1. Fundraising Support:
  • Participate in the planning and execution of fundraising initiatives as part of the development team.
  • Represent Sharsheret at national conferences, as needed.
  • Attend fundraising events, assisting with setup, coordination, and cleanup.
  • Utilize donor database tracking system for donor activity and generate reports as needed from Donor Perfect and Givecloud.

 Qualifications:

  • Available to occasionally work evenings and travel to approximately 2 out of state conferences, as needed.
  • This position reports to the Senior Development Associate and works collaboratively with another team member in a similar role. The candidate will also interact with various internal departments and external partners.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years in a Jewish, healthcare, fundraising, grant management, corporate partnerships, nonprofit development or related field.
  • Experience in healthcare, pharma, or cancer education programs is highly desirable.
  • Passion for issues related to cancer and the Jewish community

Skills:

  • Strong research, writing, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across departments in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with reporting metrics and evaluation tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
