Religious School Educational Director
Job Summary/Objective
Congregation Beth Israel in Worcester, MA seeks a part-time dynamic Religious School Educational Director for the 2025-2026 academic year. Beth Israel is a vibrant, egalitarian Conservative synagogue in Worcester, Massachusetts. The candidate will foster a love of Judaism and Jewish identity while overseeing the religious school programs and faculty for grades preschool through pre-Bar/Bat Mitzvah. The Director/Educator will work collaboratively with the Rabbi, Executive Director, and the VP of Education. They will coordinate the curriculum, oversee the staff, engage with families, and ensure a supportive educational environment.
Responsibilities:
Develop curricular goals and plans for the educational programs in collaboration with the Rabbi.
Work with Executive Director and Rabbi on recruitment and retention
Plan the religious school calendar and schedule in consultation with the Rabbi and Executive Director, considering the public school schedule.
Hire teachers as necessary or appropriate in collaboration with the Rabbi, Executive Director, and VP of Education.
Supervise, coach, train, and evaluate teachers, madrichim, and teaching ish assistants.
Choose and acquire educational program materials, texts, technology, and other curricular materials.
Oversee Shabbat morning Torah Tots program
Plan and coordinate with the community Israeli Shaliach/Shlicha.
Communicate with parents.
Engage occasional guest teachers or outside activities.
Help initiate and plan religious holidays and family programs.
Manage the religious school budget and resources.
Prepare monthly reports/updates to share with parents and for the VP of Education to share with the board.
Work with the Executive Director to write newsletters and other publicity.
Arrange for school-age programming on the High Holy Days.
Represents Congregation Beth Israel within both the Jewish and general community.
Qualifications:
Love of Judaism and working with children.
Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following: Judaic Studies, Education, or related field.
Excellent communication skills.
Minimum of 2-5 years experience in a leadership position.
Strong organizational skills.
Salary and Hours:
Hours and Salary:
Religious School begins before the High Holidays and ends before Shavuot.
We are closed on Public School vacations.
Monday Afternoons 2:30-5:30.
Saturday mornings 11:15-12:00.
Additional preparation time outside of Religious School Hours and during the summer.
Salary: $12,000.
