Jewish After School Site Director 

Title: After School Site Director

Reports to: Director of Youth Engagement

Position Type: Regular Full Time, Non-Exempt Employee (see Employee Handbook for details)

The Adat Ari El community is excited to launch a new premium Jewish afterschool program with a full, experiential Hebrew school curriculum, in Valley Village!  

The Jewish After School Director is responsible for all aspects of launching and running a brand new and dynamic After School Community! This includes marketing to raise awareness about the program, creating infrastructure for procedures, developing curriculum and lesson planning, hiring, developing and managing the teaching team, event planning, parent communications and engagement, enrollment, and student management.  

The categories of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Program Development 

  • Establish a marketing approach for the promotion of the new program and distribute information through email, social media, and partnership with other organizations.
  • Set up the new Afterschool space to be ready for the start of the 2025-2026 school year, including setting up spaces, ordering supplies, materials, securing transportation vehicles, etc.
  • Set a transportation schedule for the 2025-2026 school year based on student enrollment.

Driving Enrollment

  • Follow up with leads generated by marketing efforts, and foster continual communication with interested leads
  • Recruit new families through online sources, Open Houses, Back to School night, festivals, open houses, and other promotional events (if possible).
  • Take families out to coffee, ice cream, etc. as part of the enrollment process to get to know families better and encourage them to enroll (if possible).

Team Management

  • Recruit, hire, and train Afterschool Community teachers, assistant teachers, and specialists as needed.
  • Plan and run Teacher Training at the beginning of the school year in concert with the other Afterschool Community Directors in Los Angeles and throughout the country.
  • Plan and run staff meetings for the Afterschool Community team.
  • Support teachers as needed with lesson planning, discipline challenges, etc.

Family Relationship Management

  • Send weekly newsletters and program updates to Afterschool Community parents
  • Be the point of contact for all questions and information about the Jewish Afterschool Community.

Operations Management

  • Handle any on-site facilities issues as they arise by being in touch with the facilities team.
  • Create and maintain the administrative side of the Afterschool program (student/teacher files, enrollment documents, organization of lesson plans, etc.)
  • Manage budget and spending for the Afterschool program.

Salary has the potential for growth as the program becomes established and expands.
