Rabbi / Cantor / Spiritual Leader

Temple Beth Israel is a dually-affiliated (Conservative and Reform), uniquely vibrant and historic community in Highland Park. It is the oldest continuously functioning Temple building in Los Angeles, having recently celebrated its centennial anniversary with the TBI sanctuary holding weekly Shabbat services since 1923. Recent demographic changes to Northeast Los Angeles have brought a wave of new families to the area, growing TBI to its current 110 families which represent a mix of old and new. 

We are looking for a new Leader to usher our congregation into its next century. We are looking for a passionate, friendly and thoughtful Rabbi, Chaplain, Cantor or spiritual leader to work alongside our Rabbi Educator in leading Shabbat, High Holy Day and other holiday services, conduct lifecycle and other special events, teach adult education classes and seminars, provide pastoral care to our congregants and represent TBI in citywide Jewish community events. This is a part-time, salaried position consisting of 15-30 weekly hours, depending on role and responsibilities.
