Congregation Beth Yeshurun is a vibrant Conservative synagogue with over 120 years of history. It serves nearly 1,900 families in Houston, bringing them to experience the joy of Jewish living while addressing their spiritual, educational, and social needs. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Develop and Implement Marketing Plans:
- Work closely with leadership to understand and communicate the synagogue's mission, goals, and objectives.
- Create comprehensive marketing plans to promote events, programs, and initiatives.
- Market Congregation Beth Yeshurun to Jewish community partners (e.g., the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston) and media outlets (e.g., the Jewish Herald Voice or the Houston Chronicle).
- Oversee Marketing Calendar to assist in setting internal deadlines and managing resources.
Content Creation:
- Generate engaging and relevant written and visual content for various modes of communication.
- Audit all communications to the congregation and the public.
- Design, edit, and send email communications to the congregation and the public, including regular newsletters, event blasts, and announcements
- Segment and update email database lists as needed.
- Manage and generate content for social media platforms to strengthen Beth Yeshurun’s online presence. Engage with the community through comments and messages.
Website:
- Work with an outside developer to support the redesign of the current website
- Regularly update photography, spotlights, and messaging to reflect the congregation's priorities.
- Continually update and refine the event calendar to ensure accuracy and reliable usage by congregants.
Graphic Design:
- In conjunction with external graphic designer, create visually appealing graphics for online and printed promotional materials.
- Ensure a consistent and professional brand and visual identity in all marketing materials.
Event Promotion:
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote synagogue events, including religious services, ongoing programs, learning opportunities, special events, fundraising events, Religious School, and more.
- Coordinate with event organizers, including staff and lay leaders, a marketing timeline for events.
Analytics and Reporting:
- Utilize analytical tools to track Beth Yeshurun's performance across various platforms.
- Deliver regular reports and insights to leadership, emphasizing areas of success and opportunities for growth.
- Monitor trends in marketing and communication, especially in social media and website design.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience: Minimum of bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital marketing, media studies, communications, or a related field. 3-5 years in marketing/communications. Jewish and non-profit experience preferred.
Organization & Collaboration: Strong ability to multitask, prioritize projects in a fast-paced environment, and work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft 365, social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram), email marketing tools, web platforms, analytics tools (Google Analytics), Adobe Suite, Canva, YouTube, event registration systems, project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams), and CRM systems (Shulcloud experience a plus).
Communication & Design: Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for design and brand consistency.
Adaptability & Initiative: Self-motivated and adaptable, capable of working independently and collaboratively while maintaining high standards.
