Position Summary:

The Community Mobilizer, Queens and Long Island, is an opportunity for a creative, entrepreneurial, nimble professional who is excited to bring new ideas to these vibrant and diverse communities and see them through to execution.  As part of a dynamic, rapid-response team, you will work closely with community members and organizational leaders to address critical needs, inspire grassroots involvement, and cultivate community-driven solutions. • Develop Community-Driven Programs: Design and implement programmatic and grant-funded initiatives tailored to local needs, including strategic support for community development.

  • Foster Intergroup Relationships in Queens: Build and strengthen partnerships with other faith and ethnic communities in Queens, facilitating collaboration and mutual support across diverse groups.
  • Lead Advisory Councils: Manage the Queens Advisory Council and co-lead the Long Island Advisory Council, engaging volunteer members to shape community efforts.

  • Experience: Minimum of six years in project or program coordination, community organizing, or a related field.
  • Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the New York Jewish community (especially Queens and Long Island), with a strong preference for candidates residing in Queens or Long Island.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Skilled in communicating with diverse stakeholders, including colleagues, Rabbis, educators, and individuals across varied Jewish, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Self-Starter: Able to identify and develop opportunities independently, working in both a start-up and legacy organizational context.
  • Strong Communication and Relationship Building: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a talent for fostering meaningful relationships across diverse communities and organizations.
  • Project Management: Capable of managing complex projects from ideation through to completion.
