Seasonal Position for Camper Experience Support)
Camp Judaea – Hendersonville, NC

About the Position:
Camp Judaea is seeking a seasonal social-emotional and camper support professional professional for our second session of camp (July 4-July 31, 2025). As a key member of our Kehilah Care Team (KCT), you will provide social-emotional support, resources, and training to campers and their staff. In this role, you will also mentor and empower our counselors as they navigate challenges and grow as leaders in our community.

About Camp Judaea:
Camp Judaea is an overnight summer camp nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Our mission is to create a safe, fun, and nurturing community where campers build lifelong friendships, develop leadership skills, and strengthen their connection to Judaism, Israel, and the natural world. The Kehilah Care Team Professional will join a tight-knit, supportive team that values relationship-building, kindness, inclusiveness, well-being, and personal growth.

Pre-Season Commitments:

  • Participate in pre-summer virtual KCT meetings prior to camp (scheduled at mutually agreed-upon times).

Summer 2025 Details:

  • Full-time, residential position on-site from July 4-July 31, 2025.
  • Room and board provided.
  • Salary commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote camper well-being by fostering a proactive and supportive camp environment.
  • Assess and provide direct intervention in cases of mental health and/or behavioral crises in collaboration with the Kehilah Care Team, Camper Experience Director, and Camp Director.
  • Work with the KCT to develop modifications to programs to ensure inclusivity for all campers.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff to help them support campers’ overall well-being, mental health and emotional and social needs.
  • Collaborate with camp leadership to integrate mental health and wellness strategies into daily camp life.
  • Communicate with parents as needed regarding camper concerns, both proactively and responsively.
  • Maintain daily documentation of camper meetings, interventions, and team discussions.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Advanced degree or professional license in a mental health or behavioral support field (e.g., social work, mental health counseling, psychology, occupational therapy, education, family therapy, ABA therapy, youth psychiatry).
  • Strong relationship-building skills with children, teens, and young adults.
  • A deep commitment to youth empowerment, inclusion, and social justice.
  • Passion for Israel and Jewish values.
  • Previous camp experience (preferred, but not required).
  • Excellent crisis management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must pass federal and other necessary background checks.
