SENIOR ATTORNEY

Overview:

We are a large private family foundation with global reach.  We seek to promote the unique cultural legacy and heritage of the Jewish people. 

Toward this end, we focus on (1) enriching and enhancing Jewish education, (2) growing the next generation of professional and volunteer leaders for the Jewish People, (3) improving the lives of the disadvantaged or underserved of the Jewish and general populations, (4) supporting and enriching Jewish arts and culture, (5) advancing science and medicine in Israel and through US /Israel partnerships, and (6) supporting education and social services in Israel.

Through our programs and grants, we strive to strengthen the Jewish communities in the US and Israel.

Position Summary:

Our ideal candidate is an experienced attorney who has worked in the Jewish nonprofit world and is familiar with grantmaking.  They will be passionate about our organization’s mission and committed to achieving our goals.  The Senior Attorney will work with an experienced legal team and will report to the CEO and the Associate General Counsel. 

Job Description:

1. Oversee implementation of governance and policy
2. Draft and review grant, consultant, and program agreements and reports
3. Interface with outside counsel on benefits, personnel and other matters
4. Prepare Board and Executive Committee Meeting materials
5. Other work as requested

Qualifications:

• JD is required
• Minimum of 5 years’ legal experience
• Experience working in the nonprofit sector, preferably in grantmaking
• Excellent writing skills
• Knowledge of the Jewish communal landscape

This is a full-time, hybrid (3-days/week in office) position with outstanding benefits.

Annual Salary is $200,000.00 + and commensurate with experience.
