Role Overview

Hillel 818 seeks a nurturing, passionate, responsible, resourceful, creative, self-starting, detail-oriented Jewish community builder, who along with the rest of our team is going to do nothing short of change the Jewish future of Greater Los Angeles. The Assistant Director: Programming & Engagement will be Hillel 818’s chief engagement and programming officer reporting directly to the Executive Director. They will directly supervise the program and engagement team and oversee all aspects of Hillel 818’s program and engagement – including strategy, calendar, and student leadership. What You’ll Do

• Supervision: Supervise Hillel 818 programming and engagement team, creating clear goals for success, and meeting with them regularly to provide mentorship and feedback.
• Engagement: Develop and execute Hillel 818’s relationship-based engagement plan in order to develop personal relationships with Jewish students on our campuses, and increase the number of students Hillel 818 engages with annually.
• Programming: Oversee the creation and implementation of the Hillel 818 program calendar in concert with programming staff, student leaders, and partnership organizations.
• Student Leadership: Oversee our internship program and innovative Grapevine Initiative.
• Jewish identity and community building: The Assistant Director: Programming & Engagement must have contagious and authentic Jewish passion, as they serve as a role model and guide for our students on their Jewish journeys.
• Teamwork: The Manager of Student Engagement is an integral member of our small but mighty Hillel 818 team, where we all count on each other for support, guidance, and a constant helping hand.

What You’ll Bring to the Job

• Bachelors Degree
• 3+ years of experience
• Previous meaningful success professionally building Jewish community, planning programs, and working with Jewish students
• Previous supervisory experience
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students and build a connection between their passion and Jewish organizational mission
• Ability to manage time efficiently and work nontraditional, especially weeknights but also weekends and holidays as needed.
• A team-oriented approach, strong work ethic, and a self-starter
• Contagious and authentic Jewish passion
• Sense of humor
• Detail oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills
• Comfort with technology and ability to pick up new systems and software quickly
• Flexibility to fill gaps, shift gears, and take on roles as needed – we’re often all hands on deck!

What You’ll Receive

• Annual salary of $78,000-$90,000 depending on experience and skills
