Employment Type: Seasonal, with part-time work potentially available March–May. This position is on-site at Camp Judaea in Hendersonville, NC from late May - the end of July.
Position Overview:
Camp Judaea seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Staff Life Coordinator to lead staff engagement and morale throughout the summer. This position focuses on creating a supportive, inclusive, and vibrant environment for all staff members while planning and implementing activities that enhance their summer experience. The Staff Life Coordinator will play a critical role in fostering a sense of belonging, ensuring open communication, and contributing to staff retention efforts.
Primary Responsibilities (Summer):
- Plan and execute enhanced and frequent evening staff bonding and social programs.
- Organize educational and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Conduct regular staff check-ins to provide individualized support and address any concerns.
- Collaborate with unit supervisors to support team bonding and staff morale initiatives.
- Develop and manage the staff programming calendar, ensuring a balance of fun, relaxation, and professional growth.
- Coordinate and maintain the staff Days Off/Nights Off calendar.
- Organize transportation logistics for staff traveling into town for time off.
- Oversee the staff lounge to ensure it is a clean, welcoming, and relaxing space for all staff.
- Create and manage a Staff Advisory Council to encourage open communication and collaboration.
- Work with council members to gather insights, ideas, and feedback for improving the staff experience.
- Foster a strong sense of belonging and inclusivity within the staff community.
- Act as a point of contact for staff, maintaining open lines of communication and offering consistent support.
Additional Responsibilities (March–May, if available):
- Support staff recruitment and retention efforts through personal outreach, including calls, texts, and Zoom meetings.
- Assist in planning and implementing staff engagement events, such as virtual meetups or in-person gatherings.
- Begin development of the summer staff programming calendar in collaboration with camp leadership.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience at Jewish summer camp preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for creating meaningful relationships.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Enthusiastic, approachable, and dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive staff community.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of a camp environment.
