Description

The Development Director will play a key role in driving fundraising efforts, including the planning, execution, and evaluation of JFR’s annual campaigns and donor relations programs. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of nonprofit fundraising strategies, a passion for the Jewish community, and the ability to cultivate relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, and affinity groups.

Campaign Management:

  • Lead the development and execution of the Annual Campaign Plan, including a calendar of events and benchmarks for progress evaluation.
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO and Board members in planning and executing events such as Major Gifts drives, general fundraising, and awareness initiatives.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key donors and prospects, ensuring a personalized approach to giving.
  • Make direct solicitations to individuals, corporate sponsors, and affinity groups.
  • Develop strategies to attract new donors, broadening the donor base through innovative engagement and outreach efforts.
  • Implement and oversee fundraising strategies for various affinity groups, such as doctors, attorneys, real estate professionals, Lions of Judah, and L’dor V’dor.
  • Manage the planned giving program, consulting with the Board Chair, Board members, and estate planning professionals to ensure proper execution and growth.

Database Maintenance & Analysis:

  • Oversee the maintenance and updating of the donor database, ensuring accurate and complete contact information for all stakeholders.
  • Provide statistical reports and analysis for internal and external use, tracking donors and prospect engagement and campaign progress.
  • Ensure the timely processing of gifts, receipts, and donor billing.
  • Prepare reports for Board meetings, the Federation’s publication (Shalom), and other necessary filings (e.g., tax along with bookkeeper, grant reports).
  • Maintain up-to-date fundraising office technology and stay current with trends and best practices through ongoing professional development.
  • Assist in the creation of flyers and marketing materials for events, campaigns, and publications using Canva or similar design tools.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with team members across departments to support broader organizational goals and fundraising activities.
  • Write and submit a monthly column for the Shalom publication focused on fundraising updates, donor appreciation, and upcoming campaigns.
  • Represent JFR at community events, which may require evening and weekend availability.
