Camp Ramah in the Berkshires (www.ramahberkshires.org), located in Wingdale, NY, is a vibrant summer camp community, where Campers in grades 3-10, grow in a beautiful and safe setting, surrounded by life-long friends and are nurtured by spirited role models. Ramah Berkshires is seeking a responsible, dynamic, experienced, organized, energetic, and camp-loving person for a Rosh Edah (Unit Leader) Position. A Rosh Edah oversees the day-to-day camp experience for an Edah (Grade) of up to 65 Campers. Through organization, program planning, staff supervision & management, a Rosh Edah crafts the summer experience for Campers.

2024 Dates:  Senior Staff Training: June 10-16, General Staff Training: June 16-25, Camp Season: June 26 – August 16

Salary: $3200-$5500, depending on experience.  Additional compensation available for pre-summer work. Room & Board provided while in residence at Camp.

Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities

 Staff

  •       Directly supervise and support 12 – 15 counselors
  •       Manage staff performance, assignments, and program planning
  •       Perform ongoing staff training in collaboration with Camper Care Team

Campers

  •       Support the well-being and quality of experience of all campers
  •       Communicate each bunk's daily schedule and coordinate staff assignments and attendance
  •       Address camper behavioral and social/emotional issues with counselors
  •       Serve as chief programmer and planner for the Unit
  •       Report directly to Directors regarding camper behavioral and social/emotional issues

 Camp Leadership

  •       Serve as part of the Camp Leadership Team and act as a camp-wide role model and leader

 Requirements:

  •       Minimum 3 years experience working with children ages 13-16
  •       Supervisory experience
  •       Experience attending or working at a summer camp
  •       Comfort in a Conservative and Egalitarian Jewish environment
