Director of Congregational Learning

Reconstructionist synagogue in Attleboro, Massachusetts (near Providence) seeks a creative, energetic individual for part-time Director of Congregational Learning for the coming school year. We are a small, vibrant congregation whose school has as its goal, growing our children into Jewish adults, while simultaneously focusing on building community and family learning.

Our school runs on Sundays from 9:30am-12:30pm, and students in grades 4-7 also study midweek either in person or online. We currently have 18 students in 3 classes, and 4 teachers. This position requires synchronous time for collaborative planning every week with the rabbi, administrators, education committee and others.

Responsibilities include:

• Education Director: hire and supervise teachers and madrichim, collaboratively set curriculum and goals along with the Rabbi and education committee, run the program on site when school is in session, and oversee all communications with families.

• Family educator: plan and implement the following programs: Tot Shabbat, Shabbat B’Yachad(intergenerational Shabbat service), experiential learning for students and their parents, and children’s and family programming for High Holidays and other festivals.

While our preference is for one person to fill the entire position, we will consider candidates who are interested in only one element of the position (Ed Director or Family educator) and encourage such candidates to apply. This is a 25% time (10 hours per week) position during the school year plus 50 total hours for the summer, with an expected salary range for the full position of $12-15,000. There may also be opportunities to teach midweek in our school for additional pay.
