About the Israeli American Council: 

The mission of the IAC is to build an engaged and united Israeli American community that strengthens: the Israeli and Jewish identity of our next generations, the American Jewish community, and the bond between the peoples of the United States and the State of Israel.

 

Job Purpose:

The IAC is seeking for its LA Regional Director to lead its vision of bringing together Israeli-American and Jewish American communities throughout the Greater LA area. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful leadership and management and with the ability to implement the IAC mission. The LA Regional Director reports to the Chief Communities officer.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Vision:

  • Lead the IAC Los Angeles Regional Office to implement the IAC’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and goals on a local level.
  • Acquire a deep understanding of the Israeli-American community in the Los Angeles Region to provide relevant and meaningful programming, events, and services.
  • Assist the Regional Council in the development of strong IAC lay leadership.
  • Work together with the Regional Council on planning and implementation of IAC initiatives.
  • Translate strategic goals into execution plans for growth and impact. Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders in the region to further enhance and expand the IAC’s impact. 

Program Implementation:

  • Implement IAC programs and produce community events for the Israeli-American and Jewish-American communities in the Los Angeles region.
  • Oversee the production of large-scale activities and events in the Los Angeles Region.
  • Mobilize community lay leaders to be active in various civic engagement initiatives in schools, city councils, rallies, and representing the IAC's efforts in combating antisemitism.

Community Engagement:

  • Establish relationships and empower existing Israeli-American and Jewish organizations in the Los Angeles Region to enhance their activities and broaden their engagement.
  • Establish a strong and mutually supportive relationship between the Israeli-American community and the Jewish community in the Los Angeles Region.
  • Represent the IAC and the Israeli-American community in various forums.
  • Community outreach and public relations: Reach out to the community, maintain and create partnerships with other community organizations.
  • Build strategic relations among Jewish and pro-Israel organizations to drive support and collaboration.
  • Support the Community outreach and public relations: reach out to the community, maintain, and create partnerships with other community organizations
  • Represent the IAC and the Israeli-American community in various forums.

Fundraising & Development:

  • Identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies to approach donors, submitting proposals, and administrating fundraising-related records and documentation.
  • Lead fundraising efforts and be responsible for regional achievement of fundraising annual goals. Drive fundraising in the region and take an active part in cultivation and stewardship of new donors as well as increase giving's of current donors. 
  • Oversee fundraising strategy locally to allow the growth and resilience of the region, including planning and implementation, identifying resource opportunities from foundations, institutions, and individuals. 

Operational Management:

  • Oversee the IAC Los Angeles office: Operations, finances, marketing, programming, and other issues with the National IAC Headquarters.
  • Hire professional staff for the Los Angeles IAC Regional Office, train and supervise them to ensure effective operations.
  • Oversee the IAC Shepher community center’s successful operations, marketing, budget, and position it to be a revenue center.
  • Budget Management – Oversee the budget for the region under management. Monitor adherence to set budgets and organization’s procedures. Build a sustainable business plan for the chapter for years to come. Represent the IAC and the Israeli- American community in various forums

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree preferred.
  • Fluent in Hebrew and English - Speaking, reading, and writing.
  • At least 5 years of similar job experience.
  • Proven experience in leadership and management of a non-profit organization.
  • Experience in managing and leading a team of employees.
  • A proven leader with exceptional development skills.
  • Conceptual thinker, ability to see the big picture and to create and execute a grand vision.
  • Good operational, administrative, and management capabilities, ability to lead processes.
  • Strong high-level planning and monitoring capabilities.
  • Action-oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • A proactive, energetic, and positive leader and public speaker.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with donors, Council members, staff, and community organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Exceptional ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of Israeli and American cultures.
