Part-Time Program Manager

Join a small, creative team and develop your organizational skills as the Program Manager for a local Jewish congregation. Flexible hours with most events in the evening and on weekends. 

The Ann Arbor Reconstructionist Congregation (AARC) is seeking a Program Manager to provide administrative support, manage our events, and assure strong ongoing communications with our community. 

Required skills: 

  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Able to lift and push objects (book carts, Torah table, dishes, etc.) 
  • Familiarity or willingness/ability to learn software such as: Wordpress, Zoom, Google Drive. 
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn to use AV equipment to manage in-person and hybrid events and services. 

Program Administration & Operations

  • Provide administrative support to the board, Rabbi, religious school, and committees.
  • Manage volunteers and respond to community inquiries.
  • Support dedicated teams (finance team, board, data manager) to maintain organizational records, documents, and supplies.
  • Welcome new members, and acknowledge gifts.
  • Support lifecycle events and liaise for space reservations and payments.
  • Track administrative deadlines, reports, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in developing new programs and membership initiatives.

Event Management

  • Plan and oversee logistics for High Holidays, second Saturday morning and fourth Friday evening services, and community events.
  • Coordinate volunteers, childcare, food, supplies, and venue setup/cleanup.
  • Manage event registrations, communications, and promotions.
  • Ensure proper documentation, planning, and execution of events.
  • Attend and support shabbat and holiday services and some other events.

Communications & Engagement

  • Manage weekly email updates, newsletters, and blog posts.
  • Oversee external and internal communications, including social media and community outreach.
  • Maintain event calendars, coordinate publicity, and update the website.
  • Engage with prospective and current members, supporting retention and outreach efforts.
  • Collaborate with Jewish organizations on joint initiatives.

Availability

    • Attendance at High Holidays is required each year. For 2025, afternoon/evening of 9/22, daytime 9/23, afternoon/evening of 10/2 and all day and evening of 10/3.
    • Attendance at one morning and one evening event per month is expected.
    • Available at least a few hours within 9-5 M-F each week.
    • Respond within 24 hours to requests for support from our Rabbi and board.

 

  • Approximately 15 hr/week expected, more for weeks preceding and including high holidays.

Salary range:  $25 - $35/hour
