Who We Are 

Congregation Rodfei Zedek is a synagogue located in Hyde Park. We are a small but vibrant and engaged congregation, and we believe that a core part of community building is eating together.

We are proud to provide our members with complimentary Kiddush Lunch (meal following Saturday morning services) every week, and we host community dinners around big holidays. We work hard to make sure that our menu options vary, while keeping cost low and maximizing efficiency. 

Congregation Rodfei Zedek is a Kosher facility, which means that any food brought in for Kiddush Lunch must be certified kosher. 

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare Kiddush Lunch weekly for groups of varying sizes, ranging from 70 to 200. 
• This would include development of menus, shopping, and food preparation at an approximate cost of $15 per guest.
• Comfort in crafting all aspects of the meal, including salads, hot entrees, and desserts.
• Development of menus, shopping, and food preparation for occasional holiday meals.
• Ensure that the kitchen is kept organized and clean. Notify staff of any issues. 
• Complete an inventory each week to make sure supplies are adequately stocked. 
• Be present one or more Saturdays a month, and on infrequent but occasional evenings. 
• Administrative skills required include calendar management, tracking costs and supplies, and periodic communication with families sponsoring meals. 

Job Qualifications 

• Ability to craft and curate unique menus that align with cost targets 
• Ability to effectively manage time to make sure target hours goals are met 
• Willingness to learn and work within rules of Kashrut and Shabbat 
• Must be food service compliant: ServSafe Certified

Compensation

$25/hour for 20 - 30 hours per week of work, payable once per month
