About Temple’s Torah School
The Torah School has approximately 50 students ranging from ages 4-15. The school meets primarily on Saturday mornings at Temple, and includes a Grade 7 program which contains experiential learning and family education.
Torah School provides a rich immersion of Jewish culture and values while helping connect students, the majority of whom attend secular schools during the week, to each other and to our Jewish community via weekly learning as well as a number of enrichment and social opportunities.
About the Position
Temple’s Torah School Principal has overall responsibility for the running and development of the Torah School.
The Torah School Principal responsibilities include:
- Hiring and managing the teaching team
- Supervising teachers with curriculum and lesson planning
- Enrolment of students and communication with families
- Together with Temple’s Executive Director, the Torah School Principal will be responsible for the Torah School budget.
- Collaborating with Temple staff for event planning and engagement
- Collaborating with Temple staff to produce marketing materials and raise awareness about the school
- The Torah School Principal will meet with the Education Committee monthly, giving input to parents on fundraising, volunteerism, and strengthening the program.
There is religious leadership at the school from the Assistant Rabbi, as well as some administrative support. The Torah School team also includes a lead professional for young families, a lead teacher for Grade 7 and the B Mitzvah program, and a youth director for our teens.
About the Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience in Jewish education and administration, be a strong team player, and be a comfortable and confident advocate for Reform Judaism. The ability to communicate fluently in English both orally and in writing is essential. Knowledge of Hebrew as well as the ability to communicate in French, orally and in writing, would be an asset.
Compensation
Remuneration of $12-$15k per annum which is the equivalent of $60-$75k pro rated to 20% of full-time employment
