If you have a passion for member experience and community engagement, are team-oriented, have strong project management skills, and thrive working across a broad range of constituencies, we want to hear from you. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to create a systematic and intentional approach to identify and proactively outreach to disengaged and non-engaged congregants. You’ll also enhance TBi's current membership program by coordinating a volunteer membership committee to recruit and welcome new members to the Temple.

The Assistant Director is an at-will, full-time, exempt employee of the congregation. S/he/they reports to the President of the Board Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Community Membership

  • Help to foster a relational culture that builds community, inspires a sense of belonging, and deepens connections among TBI members
  • Work collaboratively with clergy, senior staff, and lay leaders to create pathways for current and new members to make meaningful, lifelong connections with and within the TBI community.
  • Have a presence at Shabbat evening and holiday services to welcome and greet congregants, and to be available to address membership inquiries.
  • Create, implement and manage an Onboarding Plan for new members.
  • Assist in tracking prospective members, follow up with inquiry questions, and connecting with prospects to understand their interests and needs and inviting them to appropriate activities to learn about TBI and engage with the community.
Synagogue Engagement
  • Support program and membership marketing via flyers, emails, social media and publicity
  • Work with Board and Clergy to execute social, worship, educational and Temple-wide programs
  • Responsible Temple communications channels, including emails, flyers, social media and marketing
  • Oversee marketing processes update website regularly
  • Manage all social media
  • Liaison for adult social programming and social action/justice programming
  • Create and manage all event registration pages and event rsvps
  • Fundraising event support as needed
Synagogue Logistics
  • Oversee the synagogue calendar in ShulCloud.
  • Manage program and membership revenue and expenses to meet budget needs.
  • Maintain programmatic archives to include all notes, members who were engaged with the program, and any information that could be relevant for future events
  • Gather and analyze data and seeking feedback to track people’s interest, engagement, and participation so that TBI can assess the effectiveness of our programming with administrative assistance.
  • Communicate with professional staff and lay leadership insights about what members in our community need and are saying about their experiences at TBI.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. 
  • Someone who thinks strategically and understands synagogue life.
  • Executive functioning skills with the ability to implement and improve processes and systems independently.
  • Knowledge of and support for Jewish principles and practices
  • Proficient with computers, including Google Docs, spreadsheets, and data base management. CRM knowledge a plus, particularly ShulCloud
  • Knowledge of social media, especially creating social media messaging & marketing to drive engagement & build community, and marketing/outreach/sales experience preferred. Proficiency in Canva a plus.
  • Available for regular night and weekend Temple services, projects, and programs, including on High Holy Days, Shabbat, family programs and other Jewish holidays.
  • Able to reinforce our warm, friendly, and comfortable environment by interacting and communicating well with congregants, staff and others, both in person and via phone
