Our client is The Special Children’s Center, a premier non-profit organization dedicated to the needs of the developmentally disabled within the Jewish community.

Position Focus Director of Development:

  • Reports to the Executive Director and works with senior management on fundraising goals, strategies, and operations.
  • Is supported by a large, highly motivated, and professional back office.
  • Maintains and builds upon existing donor relationships as well as forging and cultivating new donor relationships.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with current and prospective major gifts donors and ensures ongoing commitment and loyalty.
  • Develops and nurtures relationships with community stakeholders and represents the organization at community events.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team on messaging, materials and community engagement strategies.

  • This is a non-profit community organization that is committed to providing the very best care to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
  • They are a warm, growing, and vibrant organization with a current budget of 16 million dollars that is quickly rising as the agency expands.
  • The agency has three centers located in Lakewood, Brooklyn, and The Five Towns.  Their original Lakewood location is expanding to include a large farm that will have a therapy center and housing for a residential facility.

Requirements for Director of Development:

  • At least 5-10 years of Development experience.
  • Proven track record in raising funds (including major gifts) and achieving fund raising goals.
  • Proven track record in the execution of fundraising strategic plans and management of comprehensive fundraising programs.
  • Broad knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, rapport building, and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Strategic planning ability to develop and execute fundraising initiatives.
  • Good project management skills with the ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong familiarity with the Orthodox, Jewish community.
  • Knowledge of the Lakewood area philanthropic community a plus.
