Congregation Beth Judea (CBJ) seeks a part-time Religious School Director (approximately 25 hours per week) to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Religious School, be part of the senior management team, and hold a key role in the continued success of our program. The Religious School Director needs to possess a love of Judaism, desire to meet students and families wherever they are on their religious/educational journeys, and passionate connection to Jewish learning and living. This position begins on July 1, 2025.
Important Note: The CBJ Board of Directors anticipates that, with the right candidate, this position will become a full-time Family Educator position in FY2026-27.
Congregation Beth Judea (www.bethjudea.org) is a Conservative Egalitarian Synagogue in Long Grove, Illinois, located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, serving approximately 450 families with 122 students currently enrolled in our K-7 program. We have experienced a 30% growth in our Religious School over the last 5 years and have created new strategies and initiatives that have proven effective in our community. Our vision is to have our religious school become the center of Jewish learning in the northwest suburbs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate registration and promote continued enrollment growth
• Develop the school calendar, class schedules, special projects, and trips
• Oversee school curriculum and team of teachers
• Personalize curriculum to meet the learning needs of all students
• Evaluate student progress in coordination with teachers
• Communicate regularly with parents
• Enhance and build upon student/family oriented Shabbat and holiday services
• Manage annual budget
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills:
- Master’s Degree in Jewish education or related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree required
- 3-5+ years professional experience in an education field
- Proven excellence as a classroom instructor and staff supervisor
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in knowledge of the Tanach, Hebrew, Israel, and prayer
