DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

General Description:

The Jewish Community Housing Corporation of Metropolitan New Jersey is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that has been successfully providing residential options for senior citizens living in the Greater MetroWest community for more than 40 years.  Fundraising is an essential part of achieving the successful execution of the organization’s vision and mission, including the operation of the programs to enhance the lives of its senior residents.  Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the JCHC’s Development Director plays a central role in this effort by growing our fundraising capacity for upcoming annual giving, special events and capital campaigns while building upon existing relationships with current supporters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Raise funds for our cause, regularly meeting or surpassing fundraising target by                                                 

  • Learning the JCHC’s institutional history, current activities, and planned programs in order to understand funding needs.
  • Working with other members of the organization’s senior management team and its Board of Trustees, Identify foundations, corporations and individuals for potential solicitation.
  • Researching prospective donors to gain insight into needs, beliefs and donation habits to understand how to position our organization to them.
  • Facilitating new donor cultivation, steward existing donors and initiate new fundraising opportunity relationships.
  • Assisting in brainstorming and creating new methods to raise funds for our organization.
  • Leveraging technology where possible to improve fundraising activities.
  • Collaborating with our public relations firm to develop materials for fundraising activities.
  • Analyzing the performance of fundraising activities for effectiveness.
  • Using donor management platform to maintain orderly record of leads, contacts, opportunities and regular donor communications.
  • Building partnerships with other organizations within the community to enhance fundraising activities.

 Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years PAID PROFESSIONAL fundraising experience.
  • Exemplary communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Grantwriting experience is a plus.
  • Experience fundraising in the Greater MetroWest New Jersey area (preferred)
  • CFRE certification (preferred)
  • Experience with DonorPerfect online donor management platform (preferred)
  • Experience fundraising within the senior housing/senior services/affordable housing industry. (preferred)

 

Hours:                  This is a full-time position with some remote work possible.

Compensation:      Salary plus benefit package including Medical, Dental, PTO, 403(b), etc.

Start Date:            February 3, 2025 or at the earliest mutually agreeable date.
