Description

Who We Are:

Base envisions a Jewish world where every young adult has access to inspiring rabbinic leadership. We do this by welcoming young adults into the homes of young rabbinic couples who model what vibrant Jewish life can look like. We’re a part of Moishe House, the global leader in peer-led Jewish young adult engagement.

Moishe (pronounced moy-shuh) House is what being Jewish in your 20s is all about. Launched in 2006 when four friends began hosting Shabbat dinners in their home, Moishe House provides a space for over 70,000 young adults around the world to create meaningful, welcoming Jewish communities for themselves and their peers each year. To date, there are more than 150 communities in over 40 countries, and we’re still growing!

Base and Moishe House are searching for an Associate Director to be an integral member of our national team’s work to grow the field of entrepreneurial spiritual leadership. This is an opportunity for a relational and creative professional to support the growing demand for inspiring, pluralistic rabbinic leadership.

As Associate Director, you’ll contribute to the success of Base through the supervision and coaching of our early-career rabbis, with primary ownership over the design, evaluation, and iteration of our newer part-time program model of engagement.

This is a role for an attentive professional who is both relational and analytical – you’re someone who enjoys listening to coach others towards success, as well as diving into metrics and evaluation data to continually drive programmatic excellence. You’ll thrive in this role if you obsess over details, but also know when to zoom out and keep the big picture in mind.

Based in one of our U.S. hubs (New York City, D.C., Chicago, Charlotte, Encinitas), you’ll be able to work collaboratively with colleagues across the globe and will possess a strong commitment to Base and Moishe House’s vision and mission.

All voices are needed at Moishe House (please see our  identity statements for more detail). Every new member of the Moishe House team is an opportunity for us to introduce fresh perspectives, talent, and skills into our workforce and our communities. We seek employees from diverse backgrounds, faiths, and life experiences to join our team located in the United States, South America, Europe, Israel, and Canada. Our vision, in part, is for a fair and equitable workplace, where diversity is celebrated and can truly flourish!

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the growth of our part-time rabbinic program in collaboration with the Base Executive Director and Moishe House leadership, through: consulting on program design and iteration, designing and implementing a cohort experience, and ensuring quality of execution through close supervision and site visits.
  • Supervise and coach the developmental growth of early-career rabbis through regular 1:1s.
  • Continually assess programming to ensure achievement of the outcomes and outputs of our theory of change.
  • Implement annual impact evaluation and research.
  • Design a comprehensive learning & development program to meet the needs of our entrepreneurial, relational rabbis.
  • Oversee talent recruitment, hiring, and training.
  • Serve as lead experience designer for programming at team retreats and staff meetings.
  • Create relevant content for sharing on social media and through marketing channels.

Who You Are:

  • While our work is rabbinic, you don’t need to be a rabbi yourself.
  • You’re familiar with the North American Jewish communal landscape and institutions.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ full-time post-undergraduate professional experience building and managing successful teams with direct management/supervisory experience over full-time and part-time employees, including coaching, learning & development, and performance management.
  • You’re a creative program designer, an adept facilitator, and a talented convener who knows how to make meetings and work gatherings buzzy, enjoyable, and impactful.
  • You’re curious and frequently dissatisfied with the status quo; you have an entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrate an appetite to take risks.
  • You have a track record of demonstrating sound judgment by making appropriate decisions, knowing when to take initiative in identifying problems and devising solutions, and when to ask for help.
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Non-Profit Management, Business, Organizational Psychology, or another related field.
  • You have a deep appreciation for the Base model of Jewish pluralism, and the wider Moishe House mission of creating community for Jewish young adults.
  • You are proficient with the Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and major social media channels.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Slack preferred, along with an excitement for learning new software and technology.
  • You are eligible to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
  • You embrace and demonstrate the Moishe Mindset: Be the Difference, Connect & Listen, Invest Wisely, Embrace the Unknown, Own It!, Value People, and Work Well, Live Well, and Have Fun!
