About the Greenburgh Hebrew Center Early Childhood Center
(GHC ECC) is a private, not-for-profit preschool that offers a combined secular and Judaic curriculum in a nurturing, emotionally supportive and creative atmosphere. Our children are encouraged to develop emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Our strength is built on our philosophy whereby our children are imbued with a natural curiosity that is used as a springboard to learn new skills necessary for the success in school and in life. Since children learn best by doing, our curriculum is experiential and open-ended and our activities are age-appropriate and incorporate various learning styles, which reinforce all the skills necessary to build strong foundations for future learning. In addition, we provide a foundation for a strong, positive Jewish identity centered in Jewish values, traditions, and rituals. The school is in dedicated classroom and play space at Greenburgh Hebrew Center.
Overview of Responsibilities:
Assistant Teacher – yearly salary position
Be present for school hours (9:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m., Monday - Friday. Arrive at least 15 minutes early to greet parents/caregivers and children.
Respond to the supervision and direction of the Head Teacher of the class to which he/she is assigned, and have such responsibilities and duties as prescribed by the Director or Head Teacher.
*Treat all children with dignity and respect.
*Provide care, guidance, and meet the needs of the children (social, emotional, physical, and intellectual).
*Assist the Head Teacher in preparation and functioning of the school program, which may include:
*Assisting in the supervision of a group during indoor and outdoor activities
*Preparation of food for snacks and cooking projects. Observe and reinforce kashrut dietary laws.
*Supervising the class if the Head Teacher is out of the room or absent.
*Assisting in preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing materials and supplies for projects.
*Assist in clean-up and general housekeeping tasks.
*Attending staff meetings and early childhood workshops and pursuing professional development opportunities.
*Attending parent/teacher conferences.
*Actively pursue professional excellence by participating in conferences, courses, and other opportunities for professional growth.
*Always maintain professionalism and loyalty to GHC ECC.
Extended day-$30/Hourly position from 12pm to 2pm
Assist and supervise the afternoon class during lunch and play time until dismissal.
Pay: $10,000.00 per year
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Education: Associate (Preferred)
Experience: Early Childhood Education: 1 year (Preferred)
