Engagement Manager

Location: New York City (Remote with in-person meetings a few times per month)
Reports to: Executive Director

About Us:

New York Jewish Agenda (NYJA) advocates, organizes, and convenes to promote the values of liberal Jewish New Yorkers to influence state and local policies, politics, and the communal discourse. NYJA envisions a future where the Jewish communal and political discourse in New York are deeply rooted in and guided by liberal Jewish values.

NYJA was launched in 2020, and has emerged as a key player in Jewish and political advocacy. We are a member of the Progressive Israel Network and the Jewish Social Justice Roundtable. We participate in Jewish and secular coalitions related to combatting antisemitism, criminal justice reform, and welcoming immigrants and asylum seekers. Our platform can be found here, but is actually more expansive as we adapt to meet the needs and political will of liberal Jewish New Yorkers. 

Position Overview:

The Engagement Manager will play a key role in developing and managing systems and processes  for engagement with donors, funders, and program participants to ensure efficient tracking and reporting of data. This position requires someone who is organized, tech-savvy, loves systems, and has a passion for NYJA’s mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing engagement efforts, including building and managing a comprehensive database system to track donor and participant engagement, assisting with fundraising initiatives, and providing support for program activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Support:
    • Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising strategies including events, digital fundraising, and moves management planning. 
    • Conduct research and prep for donor meetings or touchpoints.
    • Collaborate with the ED to identify and engage new donors and funders.
    • Track donor contributions and ensure all engagement activities are documented.
  • Engagement Database Management:
    • Design, implement, and maintain a centralized database (CRM) to track all donor, funder, and program participant engagement.
    • Regularly update and monitor CRM data.
    • Generate reports and insights from the database to inform strategies for engagement and fundraising.
    • Collaborate with the team to ensure that database best practices are followed.
    • Track and acknowledge all contributions and other relevant data. 
  • Community Engagement:
    • Develop and implement strategies to deepen engagement with current supporters and participants.
    • Help plan and execute in-person and virtual events that enhance engagement.
    • Contribute to engagement-related newsletters and social media posts. 
  • Collaboration & Reporting:
    • Work closely with the ED to ensure that engagement strategies align with fundraising goals and organizational priorities.
    • Assist with the preparation of reports for board meetings, donor updates, and other key stakeholders.
    • Provide administrative support to the team, including scheduling meetings, preparing communications, and handling correspondence.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Attend in-person events and meetings, as required.
    • Stay informed about trends in nonprofit fundraising and engagement strategies to bring innovative ideas to the team.
    • Regularly monitor political and Jewish communal events for NYJA participation and attendance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, engagement, or program management.
  • Alignment with and passion for NYJA’s mission and vision. 
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and database management (Salesforce, Bloomerang, Every Action, or similar platforms).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Comfortable using digital tools and social media for communication, project management, and event planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with event planning and virtual event platforms.
  • Knowledge of donor stewardship and engagement best practices.
  • Experience working with a remote team.
  • Comfort with Canva or other basic design platforms.
