Congregation Beth Yeshurun is a thriving and vibrant Conservative synagogue with a 120+ year history in Houston, TX. It serves nearly 1900 families and seeks an outgoing, dynamic, energetic individual to serve as an Assistant Rabbi full-time.
At CBY, we offer our new rabbi exceptional mentoring, growth, and leadership opportunities. The new rabbi will teach classes, share knowledge, and engage with congregants of all ages. Delivering sermons and providing pastoral care will enable them to inspire and connect deeply with the community. Participation in our Day School and Religious School offers a chance to nurture the younger generation. Our environment at Congregation Beth Yeshurun is ripe with professional and personal development opportunities. With support from our experienced clergy and professional staff and the chance to lead and innovate, the new rabbi will be well-equipped to thrive and make a meaningful impact.
Roles and Responsibilities
The new rabbi's initiatives and responsibilities will focus on engaging young couples and families. The primary responsibility is to connect with them by creating welcoming programs that address their unique needs and interests. This includes developing family-oriented services, educational programs, and social events that make them feel valued and integral to the community. The rabbi will support events such as weddings, births, bar/bat mitzvahs, and other life cycle events, building strong relationships and fostering a sense of belonging.
The new rabbi will also collaborate with our current clergy, bringing fresh ideas and energy while respecting their strengths. It is vital to provide pastoral care tailored to young families. The rabbi should be accessible and approachable, offering counseling and support to those navigating the challenges of modern family life.
