Who Is the Program and Events Manager?
The Program and Events Manager is our “Implementer in Chief”! This role is pivotal in bringing our programs and vision to life by organizing and executing a wide array of synagogue initiatives. From religious services and educational programs to social and cultural events, this individual will be the driving force behind the planning and delivery of all Adat Ari El programs and events. The Program and Events Manager will also coordinate all rental events, serving as the primary contact and face of Adat Ari El for external clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Coordination:

  • Plan, manage, and execute a variety of congregational programs, including but not limited to:
    • High Holiday programs and services
    • Weekly Shabbat programming (e.g., Shabbat@Adat)
    • Community holiday events (e.g., Sukkah Hop, Purim activities, Passover Seders)
    • Adult education, guest speakers, and musical concerts
    • Havurah organization and community-wide Shabbaton trips
    • Quarterly Sisterhood events
  • Maintain an annual program calendar to ensure balanced offerings of religious, educational, and social activities.
  • Oversee logistics, including vendor coordination, materials, guest speakers, facilitators, and volunteer management.
  • Act as the primary contact for program participants, providing excellent customer service and addressing needs promptly.

Event Coordination:

  • Plan and oversee synagogue events, including lifecycle events (e.g., weddings, B’nai Mitzvah), holiday celebrations, and community gatherings.
  • Coordinate event logistics such as room setups, AV needs, catering, and supplies.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for event organizers and external rental groups, ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Assist with pre-event setup and post-event breakdown, including cleaning and resetting spaces.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and/or Finance Committee to manage program and event budgets.
  • Track expenses and optimize resources to stay within budget.

Volunteer Management:

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support programs and events.
  • Foster a strong volunteer network and provide ongoing support and recognition.

Marketing and Communications:

  • Promote programs and events through newsletters, social media, and other channels.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date program information on the synagogue’s website and other platforms.

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain detailed records of program participation, feedback, and outcomes.
  • Prepare reports and evaluations to assess the success and impact of programs and events.

 

Position Type:

  • Full-time, Exempt

Compensation:

  • $68,000 - $78,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
  • Comprehensive health benefits package

Reports To:

  • Executive Director 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in program management, event coordination, or related fields, preferably in a Jewish communal setting.
  • Strong understanding of Jewish practices and commitment to Jewish communal life.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse community.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with program management tools (e.g., Salesforce, ShulCloud, Blackbaud), Canva, and Constant Contact is a plus.
