Job Title: Social Media and Marketing Specialist (Temporary)

Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications

About the Role:
JCP is seeking a creative, strategic, and organized Temporary Social Media and Marketing Specialist with at least 2-3 years of experience in marketing, digital strategy, or communications. This temporary part-time role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and enhance JCP’s online presence while contributing to the organization’s broader marketing initiatives.

Working closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications, this individual will take the lead in developing and executing a social media strategy that aligns with JCP’s mission and engages the community. They will be responsible for creating, editing, and posting high-quality content, attending events to capture compelling material, and analyzing engagement metrics to refine strategies. While collaboration and approval from the Director of Marketing and Communications will be key, the ideal candidate will be proactive and able to work independently to drive engagement and brand awareness.

What You’ll Do:

  • Content Creation and Management:
    • Create engaging short-form videos, still images, and other content tailored to JCP’s mission and target audiences.
    • Edit and optimize content for social media platforms, using editing software or in-app tools.
    • Manage and run JCP's social media accounts, ensuring consistent posting and audience engagement with oversight from Director of Marketing and Communications
  • Strategy Development:
    • Develop, brainstorm, pitch, and execute content ideas alongside the Director of Marketing and Communications.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and implement a social media strategy that aligns with JCP’s broader marketing goals.
  • Event Attendance and Coverage:
    • Attend some JCP events, programs, and gatherings to capture photo and video content.
    • Highlight the energy and diversity of JCP’s activities through compelling storytelling and visuals.
  • Analytics and Planning:
    • Monitor and report on performance of social media posts 
    • Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to use insights to inform future strategies.
    • Update and maintain a content calendar to plan and execute posts in a timely manner.

How Your Success Will Be Measured:

  • Consistent, high-quality content that drives engagement across JCP’s social media platforms.
  • Positive feedback from the JCP community on social media efforts.
  • Growth in social media reach, followers, and engagement metrics.

Requirements:

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in content creation and social media .
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Experience editing videos using platforms like Adobe Premiere, Canva, CapCut, or in-app tools.
  • Creativity and initiative to pitch and develop original content ideas.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
  • Alignment with our core values of community, collaboration, and inclusivity

Work Environment:

  • 10-12 hours per week, with flexibility for remote work, to be determined with supervisor.
  • Occasional attendance at events on evenings, weekends, Jewish Holidays and/or Shabbat for content creation. These events may be offsite; location will be determined at a later date.

This role will pay $20/hour. This is a temporary position which will last approximately six (6) months from the date of hire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to attend events and capture content in real-time.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift at least 15 pounds at a time.
