Our Hebrew & Judaic Studies Teachers are educational innovators committed to providing high-quality instruction in the areas of Jewish Values, Jewish Living, Israel, and Torah.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach and implement the chavruta model of Jewish learning, facilitating collaborative study partnerships among students to promote peer-to-peer learning, critical thinking, and meaningful engagement with texts.
  • Develop and incorporate creative and innovative activities and instruction methods into the curriculum, such as project-based learning, experiential learning opportunities, and use of technology, to enhance student interest and deepen understanding of Judaic concepts and practices.
  • Deliver an engaging Judaic Studies curriculum tailored to students in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Adapt instructional content, delivery, and resources as needed to reflect age-appropriate activities.
  • Foster a deep understanding and appreciation of Jewish laws, traditions, Oral & Written Torah, and tefillah among students.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that respects and celebrates diversity within the Jewish community.
  • Utilize innovative teaching methods to convey complex concepts and inspire critical thinking effectively.
  • Collaborate with General Studies colleagues to integrate Judaic Studies with other subjects and promote interdisciplinary learning.
  • Implement assessment strategies to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Actively engage with parents and guardians to communicate student progress and promote parental involvement.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices in Judaic education.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to building a positive, inclusive school culture rooted in Jewish and Epstein’s core values.
  • Manage classroom procedures through consistent, well-articulated expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Demonstrates professionalism in all job-related situations including interactions with students, parents, colleagues and community members
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication abilities Exhibits a growth mindset
  • Seeks to improve through self-reflection, constructive feedback and/or professional development activities
  • Comprehension of written Biblical Hebrew a plus for Judaic Studies. (Oral and written fluency required for Hebrew teaching positions)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office as well as other relevant educational platforms

Education & Other Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred
  • Certification/License: Valid Teaching Certificate or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum of three years as a lead teacher in a school environment

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

  • Communicate clearly
  • Physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency
  • Bend, crouch, walk through the school, and move from standing to sitting on the floor and back.
  • Use hands and fingers to reach, grab, write, handle, feel & control objects
  • See, talk and hear
  • Occasionally lift and/or carry objects 30 lbs.
  • Lightly clean and maintain equipment in the classroom      
  • Work in a busy and occasionally noisy environment

About the Role:

  • FLSA: Exempt, Salaried, Full-time
  • Work Days: 190
  • Reports To: Division Principal
  • Annual Salary: $50,000 to $70,000 (commensurate with experience)
