Summary

Temple Beth Am’s Programming Coordinator is part of the Programming team responsible for managing all non-school events at Temple Beth Am.  Events span all genres, from panels, stand-up comedy, concerts, author visits as well as dinners surrounding  religious events, community fairs, private parties, and rentals.

Open to all, TBAM is a nurturing and caring Reform congregation committed to Jewish continuity, life-long education, spiritual renewal, life-cycle transitions, Shabbat and holiday celebrations. Beth Am offers religious, educational, cultural, social and athletic programs that meet the dynamic needs of our community.

 Programming Associate will:

  • Coordinate and supervise programs with auxiliary groups as assigned following TBAM’s established policies and procedures.
  • Work with TBAM Librarian to create and communicate Library programs throughout the year.
  • Research potential programs for The Hub.
  • Manage larger rental events.
  • Learn all systems to a functional level related to programming (including but not limited to box office system and calendaring system).
  • Provide professional service to members, renters and customers.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to create materials highlighting our many campus offerings.
  • Lead tours of our facility to attract rental and partner events.
  • Represent Temple Beth Am at business-focused networking events.
  • Find appropriate opportunities to disseminate information to a wide audience about programs at TBAM.
  • Balance TBAM needs with revenue generation, evaluating programs for resource use and TBAM capacity and using TBAM’s central calendar as a resource.
  • Provide professional customer service to patrons in person, over the phone, and in written communication.
  • Support events in any way necessary. As examples, by providing artist hospitality, gathering financial information to settle shows, managing front of house.
  • Provide set-up information to Temple staff for proper event preparation.
  • Work with staff to deliver great hospitality to artists, guests, and patrons.

 

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Prior Experience: Prior experience in customer service or event management in a multi-space venue is a plus. Knowledge of Judaism is not required.
  • Computer Knowledge: The Programming Associate must possess full command of the Microsoft office programs - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. In addition, they must be able and willing to learn any programs used by TBAM to make the office run smoothly- i.e. Google Suite, VeraCross, etc.
  • Problem Solving Skills: TBAM’s Programming Associate must possess problem-solving skills and focus on critical thinking. They are required to be an issue solver and a decision-maker on your feet.
  • Time Management Skills: TBAM’s Programming Associate needs to have excellent time management and prioritizing skills and be able to work effectively under deadlines.
  • Teamwork – Place goals of TBAM foremost when interacting with others at all levels. Build an environment that fosters teamwork and enhanced task accomplishment through positive and supportive cooperation.
  • Communication – Demonstrate relevance and clarity of written and oral expression. Express ideas clearly and demonstrate effective listening skills. Effective in exchanging ideas and information. Applies to communications with both co-workers and customers.

  • Flexibility- TBAM’s Programming Associate is able to quickly adapt to new circumstances as they arise. TBAM’s Programming Associate is able to adjust to accommodate unexpected circumstances and are able to navigate situations that don’t go as planned.
  • Work Hours – Programming Associate hours will vary week to week based on that week’s events. Evenings and weekend hours will be required, with adjustment to the schedule during the week to compensate.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, & the ability to adjust focus.  The requirements of this job include extensive use of the computer and telephone.

 

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is rarely exposed to the risk of electrical shock. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
