About Hillel At Dartmouth
Hillel at Dartmouth embraces Hillel International's mission to enrich the lives of Jewish students of all backgrounds so that they will enrich the Jewish people and the world through enduring commitments to Jewish life, learning, and Israel.
In partnership with Dartmouth College, Hillel at Dartmouth became an independent entity in 2021, positioning itself to help students create a distinctly Jewish and universally human future. By stewarding student-led initiatives and broadening student participation, we will inspire our students, to paraphrase Jon Levisohn's terminology, to become agile producers of their own Jewish meaning rather than mere possessors of information.
Hillel at Dartmouth is a wellspring of innovation that nourishes our students and influences other college campuses. Today, we regularly engage more than 70% of our Jewish student population of 450 students, along with many non-Jewish students. The resources and creativity we invest today will shape the human and intellectual capital we dedicate to serving our students in the future.
The Roth Center for Jewish Life is located in the heart of the campus. The Roth Center offers the stunning Alperin/Kirsch Sanctuary, an open space for dining, meetings, and religious services; the impressive Koreman Library; the Rauch Kitchen and stocked snack pantry; offices and classrooms; and two student lounges (Lappin and Rosen). The Upper Valley Jewish Community, a regional synagogue, is also housed in the Roth Center.
