Description

Temple Sinai is Seeking Religious School Teachers! Here are some of the parameters.:

Teach classes all days Religious School is offered (typically 3-4 Sundays/month from the middle of August through the end of April the following year), and inform administrators in advance when they will be unable to teach.

Teachers are expected to provide space for madrichim (teen teacher helpers) to perform their roles in the classroom as well. Teachers are not expected to supervise madrichim. These issues should be addressed by admin.

Teachers are expected to attend a ½ day staff orientation in the second week of August in-person or virtually. The staff training is typically 3 hours in duration.

All Sunday program teachers are expected to be present until all children have departed with their families after dismissal at 12:00pm. Please check the schedule as you may occasionally be asked to stay after school for professional development.

You are periodically asked to meet with the Director of Education for check-ins at times which work into your schedule. Frequency of these meetings is at the discretion of the Director of Education and Executive Director. The check-ins are brief and candid. Check-ins are driven by goals, solutions, and supportive action.

Teachers are responsible for communicating with the Director of Education for reaching the goals of each lesson and implementing learning activities which engage a variety of learners. Teachers are also responsible for documenting lesson topics and goals, key vocabulary and concepts, and corresponding activities. The Director of Education will work with teachers to develop a seamless system for accomplishing these goals.

Teachers are also asked to routinely communicate with families, and occasionally communicate progress in achieving Hebrew learning goals to families.

Teachers are hourly employees. Hourly compensation is commensurate with relevant experience. Our starting hourly pay for teachers is $30.00 per hour. Teachers can expect a minimum of 4 hours of work per week for 28 Sundays.
