We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, EEC-certified Preschool teacher to join our dynamic team at Temple Emanuel Preschool. If you have a passion for early childhood education, a love for Jewish learning, and a desire to shape the minds of young children as they prepare for kindergarten, we encourage you to apply.
Our current openings are for substituting occasional afternoons (1-5:30), and our upcoming April and Summer vacation camps. Based on enrollment, there could be additional full-time opportunities in the 2025-2026 school year.
Dates: April 22-25 (8:30-3:30)
June 16-August 15 (8:30-3:30)
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons focused on early childhood development, including arts and crafts, free play, storytelling, and Jewish curriculum.
- Teach foundational kindergarten readiness skills, such as identifying numbers, letters, and basic social skills.
- Implement a structured classroom environment to support children’s learning and growth.
- Participate in weekly joint curriculum planning sessions to collaborate on lesson plans and activities for the following week (Monday through Friday).
- Integrate Jewish teachings, including holidays, Shabbat, Israel, Hebrew language, and simple Hebrew prayers, into daily classroom routines.
- Lead children in chanting Hebrew prayers daily, including brachot (blessings) before meals and those associated with Shabbat and Jewish holidays.
- Incorporate simple Hebrew words and phrases into songs and lessons, and engage children in Jewish holiday storytelling and activities.
- Commit to learning Hebrew songs, prayers, and Jewish stories to effectively teach and enrich the curriculum.
- Maintain a positive, nurturing, and inclusive environment that supports each child’s individual growth.
- Foster an atmosphere of respect, cooperation, and learning within the classroom.
- Collaborative Responsibilities:
- Be present for all scheduled teaching hours and after-school planning sessions.
- Work extended day until 5:30 p.m.
Experience and Qualifications:
- EEC (Early Education and Care) Certification.
- Experience in early childhood education, preferably with Pre-K children.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and teaching strategies for kindergarten readiness.
- Knowledge and passion for Jewish customs, traditions, and Hebrew language, with a willingness to incorporate these elements into the classroom.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to create a warm and welcoming learning environment.
