Head Nanny

The Head Nanny is responsible for the health and safety of the child/ren s/he is babysitting, and for programming activities for their enjoyment. They will supervise and schedule the team of babysitters as well as work alongside them. The nanny is supervised by both the parents of the child s/he is caring for, and by the Program Director.

The responsibilities of the babysitter include but are not limited to the following:

1. On a normal day, the nanny supervises the children beginning after breakfast and ending at dinner.  Supervising the children includes:  
1. Full responsibility for their health and safety.
2. With the child’s parent, programming activities for the children, utilizing camp’s specialty areas (arts and crafts, pool, etc.) when possible.  The nanny must obtain permission from the specialist to take the children to the specialty area.
3. With the child’s parent, programming activities for the children that do NOT include camp’s specialty areas.
4. Staying with the children while they nap or rest.
5. Eating with the children at all three meals.  (The parent often joins the children for the meal as well.)

• Because the nanny is off on Shabbat, the nanny is required to work on specialist days off, if needed.  Need is to be determined by the child’s parents and the Assistant Director.
• On certain days, if Camp’s program requires the parent late at night, the nanny will be required to work at that time.
• On certain days, as needed, the nanny will be required to begin working before breakfast and/or may need to continue working after dinner.
• The nanny is not required to work on Shabbat.
• The nanny is required to follow any other guidelines set forth by the camper’s parents.  The Camp Director will have sole discretion to override the parent’s request.

The nanny will at all times present him or herself as a Dugma Ishit (Personal Example) in and outside of camp.
